Interactable Escape Punish

In Mortal Kombat 11, certain Environmental Interactables grant invincibility upon use. When done as a reversal, these Interactables give invincibility on the very first frame of start-up. This means that you can use these Interactables to escape every gap in the game.

Characters with aerial Special Moves benefit the most from this because they can punish opponents immediately after using the Interactable. For example, after blocking Erron Black’s Back+2,2,2 string, Scorpion can escape after the first hit then punish with an (Air) Hell Port. This can be pretty useful against Erron Black because normally you cannot interrupt his Back+2,2,2.

There are many characters with gaps that you can exploit using this tactic. The below video showcases some examples of gaps that can be escaped, as well as the different characters that can punish with an aerial Special Move.

Although it is very situational, it’s also incredibly powerful to be able to full combo punish your opponent for using a string that is normally safe. You should always be mindful of your surroundings because Interactables can come in handy in these types of situations.
